Horrific! 9-year-old kidnapped, killed for Rs 25 lakh ransom in Mumbai

A horrific incident has been reported recently from Maharashtra’s Mumbai where a nine-year-old boy was kidnapped and murdered. According to the sources, the boy was abducted after attending evening prayers at a mosque in Thane.  

As per officials, the prime suspect is a local tailor who allegedly planned the kidnapping to extort ransom for Rs 25 lakh to finance building a new house. The body of the boy was found in a sack hidden at the accused’s house.

Police have arrested the suspect and his brother. The investigation is ongoing to determine if anyone else was involved.

How the incident happened?

Since it was Ramadan, the victim, Ibad, a Class 4 student, had gone to the mosque to offer his evening prayers. His family became concerned when he failed to come home at night and began looking for him throughout the neighborhood.

Ibad's parents then learned that he had been abducted and that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 25 lakh through an anonymous call. The family then informed the Kulgaon police. The officials then initiated the investigation and tracked the number from which the family received the ransom call and reached the house of accused. 

The accused killed Ibad and stuffed his body in a sack and hid it behind his house fearing his. The police subsequently recovered the sack. Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem and the investigation behind the motive of the crime is still on.
