In a bizarre and alarming incident, an IndiGo flight bound for Hyderabad experienced a harrowing ordeal when a passenger, allegedly under the influence of "bhang" - a traditional Indian cannabis-infused beverage - attempted to open one of the aircraft's doors mid-flight. The incident had sent shockwaves through the cabin, prompting swift action from the flight crew.

According to the sources, the 29-year-old left the passengers in worry after he tried to open the door. The incident happened on May 21.  According to eyewitnesses, the passenger in question exhibited erratic behavior shortly after takeoff. Even after relocating to a different seat, he was rigid to sit with his two friends, with whom he traveled to Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

Passengers and crew members reacted with panic and alarm as the individual approached the door, prompting swift intervention from the flight crew. Following established safety protocols, the crew members managed to restrain the passengers and prevent any further escalation of the situation.

Soon after landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, the air staff complained to him, following which he got arrested. However, after medical reports, the 29-year-old was granted bail.

This is not the first time, another such incident came to light earlier this month when a 22-year-old male tried to open the emergency exit door while on the flight. The incident took place on Indigo's Kolkata-Bengaluru flight.
