Talking crow (X/@asraghunath)
Maharashtra: Parrots that can talk are a dime a dozen. But a talking crow? That's one for the books. A crow from a rural village in Maharashtra's Palghar has shocked the internet - not for flying stunts but for speaking. Yes, you heard that right. There have been a few videos of the crow mimicking human words, just the way any parrot would mimic words.
It started when Mangalya Munke discovered a 15-day-old injured crow beneath a tree and brought it home. Over time, the crow established itself within the Munke family. As the children played with and fed it, the bird gradually adjusted to the family. It hopped around the house, perched on shoulders, and ultimately began speaking.
Yes, now this one-and-a-half-year-old crow also talks. Not grunting and squawking, but actually speaking phrases. From "Aai (mother)" and "Baba (baba)" to "What are you doing?" and "Why did you come home?" in Marathi, the crow can speak it all like a pro. And people are having trouble believing their ears.
When the videos of the chatty crow became viral, tourists from neighboring villages began arriving to see it for themselves. Some even attempted to talk to the bird in hopes that it would talk to them, too.

But the Munke family claims the crow is more than just a talker. When someone who is unknown to them walks up to their house, it allegedly inquires, "What is your work?" And if one of its family members yells out at someone, the crow tends to follow suit by calling out its name.
Though it flies off during the day with other crows in the neighborhood, it comes back home by evening. It doesn't stray too far away, nor does it venture into the forest, according to the Munke family. The bird, of course, knows where it is. Reminded of how he came across the chatty crow, Mangalya Munke said to India Today: "It was so tiny when we first discovered it; we gave it pieces of apple initially, then gradually introduced rice.
It never departed from us after that." His wife, Tanuja Munke, added: "It speaks to us now. It addresses us by name. We did not teach it, it just learned."As the video of the chatty crow keeps popping up on the internet, it's the sort of tale that sounds unbelievable - until you listen to it yourself. But this Palghar crow has gone on to make headlines with its unusual talent for speaking.
