Videos of Dubai's waterlogged areas and flooded runway surfaced on the social media platform X.  People in Dubai were leaving their cars on the road due to the floods caused by the heavy rainfall.  Strong gusts and overnight rain caused disruptions to planes at Dubai International Airport. In less than a day, Dubai is said to have received 120 millimeters (4.75 inches) of rain, which is the equivalent of what the desert nation receives on average.

"Dubai is undergoing severe flooding as a result of 1.5 years' worth of rain falling in one day. In just one day, almost 5 inches (127 mm) of rain fell," a user posted a video of the flooded runway at Dubai Airport.

Extreme rainfall in Dubai caused flooding at a metro station. It was seen that people were moving through the floodwaters on foot. The water level was much higher than ankle height.

More rainfall is expected

The forecast indicates that before the showers stop, there will be more rain. Even though it is uncommon, rain does occasionally fall during the colder winter months in the UAE, an arid nation on the Arabian Peninsula. The lack of regular rainfall has resulted in several roads and other locations without proper drainage, which has also contributed to the flooding. Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia all experienced rain.
