A barber in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, found himself behind bars for allegedly arriving late at a police officer's residence for a haircut, according to officials on Thursday. The incident occurred when Circle Officer (CO) Sunil Kumar had summoned Vinod Kumar, a barber, to his home for a haircut.
Shiv Kumar, the victim's brother, recounted the events to the media. "Vinod was occupied with other customers, which caused a delay in his arrival at the CO's residence. A few hours later, police personnel arrived at our shop, closed it, and took Vinod to the Bisauli police station," he said. "They kept Vinod in the lock-up until Wednesday afternoon."
Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi addressed the incident, acknowledging that it had been brought to his attention and that an investigation was in progress. "Action will be taken against the person responsible," Priyadarshi assured.
The incident has sparked discussions about the misuse of power and the treatment of civilians by law enforcement in Uttar Pradesh.
