Danish Couple

A Danish culinary duo, Flemming Hansen and Mette Helbaek, has sparked outrage and controversy following their abrupt departure from their eco-conscious getaway, Stedsans, in southern Sweden. The couple, who were known for their luxurious and nature-inspired resort, has fled to Guatemala amid allegations of financial and environmental mismanagement.

Environmental Concerns

The couple's sudden departure has raised concerns about the environmental impact of their actions. According to reports, they left behind 158 barrels of human waste and sewerage, which are now seeping into the nearby forest. This has been described as an "environmental crime" by local authorities.

Financial Mismanagement

Hansen and Helbaek's financial troubles began in Copenhagen, where they owed millions of kroner to Danish tax authorities. They later moved to Sweden and founded Stedsans, but accumulated debt to Swedish tax authorities, which reached 6 million SEK (approximately Euro 470,000). The couple's financial woes ultimately led to the bankruptcy of Stedsans in March.

Animal Welfare Concerns

Staff members at Stedsans have reported that several animals, including ducks, died as a result of being left outside during the night. Other animals were abandoned after the couple's departure, raising concerns about animal welfare.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are currently investigating the couple's actions, including allegations of environmental and financial mismanagement. Daniel Helsing, who leads the county's construction and environment department, has expressed shock at the situation, stating, "Voila. Over 150 barrels of human shit."

New Venture in Guatemala

Despite the controversy surrounding their departure from Sweden, Hansen and Helbaek have opened a new hotel in Guatemala. On their website, they have expressed their desire to create a more beautiful planet, but their actions have raised questions about their commitment to environmental sustainability.
