Rajasthan: The case involved a wedding ceremony in Karauli, Rajasthan, which went awry after the groom called off the marriage as soon as he saw the bride. The bridegroom accused the bride of cheating, alleging that the bride whom he had seen was different from the one shown in the photograph presented to his family at the time of engagement. The incident took a heated argument, accusations of immorality, and even violence.
The groom, a station master from the Todabhim area, and his family reached the bride's house for the engagement ceremony. According to the groom, they were shocked to see that the bride did not match the photograph provided earlier. Disappointed and feeling deceived, they refused to proceed with the baby shower ceremony and marriage. "We were not shown the real picture of the bride," the groom stated.
The denial of marriage resulted in an argument between both the families. The bride's family wanted the groom to give his final verdict for marriage, and on the other hand, the groom's family demanded time to move out and deliberate on the decision. The tussle reached the local Panchas who came to resolve the dispute. Unfortunately, the dialogue didn't yield the result.
And after this, the drama unfolded. As the groom alleges, the bride's family resorted to violence. "They beat me and my family members, including my father, uncle, and younger brother. They even cut my hair and mustache," he said. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media and has sparked heated debate and anger.
Local authorities have launched an investigation after recording statements from both parties. The viral video and allegations of physical assault are central to the inquiry. The bride's side has been accused of misrepresentation and violence by the groom's family, while the bride's family has yet to issue a formal statement.
