In the current tech world, ChatGPT is increasingly becoming a default tool used for answering queries as well as resolving personal crises. For a Los Angeles couple, Abella Bala and Dom Versaci, the AI chatbot has become an unexpected aspect of their relationship. Bala jokingly refers to ChatGPT as their "referee" since it assists them in calming down during arguments. The couple attributes the $20 per month premium version to providing objective observations during heated times.
Bala and Versaci have depended on ChatGPT as much as humanly possible during the last half-year for counsel and conflict negotiation. Although it hasn't liked every recommendation they've received, the AI provided neutral insights in many cases and diffused the tension. On one particularly rocky day, it recommended they give an open relationship a try—an advice they hastily dismissed but shared chuckles with to ease tension.
In another scenario, the AI playfully suggested issuing Versaci a "hall pass" to go out with other women. Although the proposition was not exactly practical, it took their minds off their quarrel and brought down stress levels. Bala even posted a video on Instagram, describing how they utilize ChatGPT as a cheap replacement for couples therapy, which they couldn't handle.
The couple admits that ChatGPT has helped them reflect on their individual shortcomings. Bala confessed that she often criticizes Versaci’s driving in anger, while Versaci acknowledged his tendency to emotionally manipulate situations during household disputes. These realizations have led to more constructive conversations between them.
Abella Bala is a digital campaign manager and influencer talent manager in Los Angeles, while Dom Versaci is a data analyst. They have found an unusual yet successful method to deal with the challenges of relationships in the modern age through the use of AI technology.
