A tourist saw an exciting encounter between a black mamba and a crocodile, in which the snake almost avoided the crocodile's bite but was eventually captured. Giosue Spinosa shared the video of the exceptional moment she caught on the Shingwedzi River in South Africa's Kruger National Park with Latest Sightings. The video was then posted on their YouTube channel on April 11.

Trying to reach the edge of the river, Spinosa saw the deadly black mamba slithering down the dry riverbank. According to Spinosa, who spoke with Latest Sightings, "the speed at which it was moving led him to suspect that the snake was not only going for a drink but rather was looking to cross the river."

"There are several hippos and crocodiles in the Shingwedzi River. The snake went completely unnoticed by the nearby hippos. But the group of crocodiles enjoying the morning sun sensed the mambas' movements nearly instantly," according to Spinosa.  A crocodile nearby sprung to attention as the snake moved, lunging for the nimble reptile. The black mamba was too quick for the crocodile to handle, swerving around its jaws with incredible speed.

"The remaining crocodiles were observed from the bank as the snake crossed the crocodile-infested river with success."  But it was far from over. The black mamba had trouble getting off the muddy riverside.  "One of the crocs dove into the water and swam as quickly as he could, seeing the snakes struggle and the chance for a meal. He attacked the snake head-on as soon as he set foot on dry land, unafraid of its extremely lethal and toxic venom. With his thick leather skin, he knew the snake's fangs could not hurt him," Spinosa stated.

The video went viral with over 3.1M views and 2.5K likes.
