Bengaluru Police apprehended five individuals on Friday for assaulting an auditor employed at a private firm. Among the arrested were two colleagues of the victim, accused of orchestrating the attack by hiring assailants.

The police's action followed the circulation of a viral video depicting the assault, captured by a car's dash camera. In the video, the accused individuals are seen assaulting Suresh, the auditor, with an iron rod on the ring road near Kalyan Nagar.

Suresh, employed as an auditor at a milk product company in Bengaluru, worked alongside Umashankar and Vinesh, both of whom were among those arrested.

Why did accused attack?

During interrogation, the accused confessed to the assault, citing pressure allegedly exerted by Suresh. They claimed that Suresh, who joined the company a year ago, was a strict auditing officer, demanding prompt clearance of stock balances from employees.

Before Suresh's arrival, the accused individuals had reportedly been lax and delayed in clearing balances. Suresh's actions, which involved bringing these issues to the company's seniors and implementing strict measures against Umashankar and Vinesh, allegedly led to resentment among the accused.

Feeling aggrieved by Suresh's actions, Umashankar sought revenge by enlisting the help of a former colleague, who introduced him to Sandeep, another accused.

Accused hire goons to carry out attack

Following Umashankar's instructions, Sandeep hired goons from KR Puram to carry out the attack. They subsequently assaulted Suresh with an iron rod, as per the police's account.

The accused individuals were arrested by the police in the Hennur area following the viral circulation of the video. Further investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
