New Delhi: Imagine this, you open a dating app, but instead of swiping for potential matches, you're faced with a scenario where your virtual girlfriend is fuming mad at you. This isn't a dystopian nightmare, but the concept behind a new app called AngryGF.

While AI companions designed to simulate real-life interactions are becoming increasingly common, AngryGF takes a unique approach. This app throws you into the fire - a virtual argument with your AI girlfriend - with the goal of teaching you how to navigate conflict in your real-life relationships.

Learning through (virtual) conflict

"AngryGF is designed to help users handle relationship conflicts with their partners, especially girlfriends or wives," explains co-founder Emilia Aviles. The app presents users with various scenarios where their AI partner is upset, and the user's responses impact the "forgiveness level." The aim? To calm your virtual girlfriend down and reach a perfect score of 100. Choosing the right words can improve her mood, while insensitive remarks will make things worse. Through this gamified approach, Aviles believes users can develop and refine essential communication skills for real-world relationships.

Social media divided: Skepticism and surprise

Unsurprisingly, AngryGF has sparked a conversation online. While some users expressed surprise at the app's concept, others questioned its effectiveness. Comments ranged from "This is so weird, really" to "Why would we want to simulate dating a real woman?"

The app's creators, however, remain confident. According to AngryGF's website, the app helps users "master the art of soothing an AI partner for stronger relationship bonds in real life!" Whether this translates to a smoother sailing with your actual girlfriend or wife remains to be seen incoming time.
