Actress Kangana Ranaut sparked controversy once again with her latest statement, echoing her previous remarks that India achieved true independence only after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2014. This recent incident occurred shortly after she joined the BJP as a Member of Parliament candidate from Mandi, her hometown.

Viral Statement

On March 27, Kangana attended a media event, and nearly a week later, a clip from that interview went viral on Twitter and Instagram. In the clip, Kangana asserted that Subhash Chandra Bose, the freedom fighter and Azad Hind Fauj leader, was the first Prime Minister of India, not Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

In the viral video, Kangana can be heard saying, "Pehle mujhe ye baat aaj clear karne dijiye. Jab hume azaadi mili toh the first Prime Minister of India, Subhash Chandra Bose, woh kahan gae? (Let me clear this first. When we gained independence, where did the first Prime Minister of India, Subhash Chandra Bose, go)". When reminded by the host that Bose was not India's Prime Minister, Kangana hinted at a conspiracy theory, questioning Bose's disappearance and lack of recognition as Prime Minister.

Public Response

Kangana's comments stirred a wave of reactions online. Many pointed out historical inaccuracies and expressed disagreement with her assertions. One Twitter user sarcastically listed Kangana's alleged claims, including Bose being the first PM of India and Sardar Patel not becoming PM due to his lack of English proficiency, quipping that such statements should be a reason for Mandi voters to support Kangana.

Another individual humorously stated, "I strongly condemn Kangana Ranaut's statement that the first Prime Minister of India was Subhash Chandra Bose. We all know that the first PM of India was Shri Narendra Modi Ji after India gained independence in 2014."

Furthermore, concerns were raised about potential historical revisions if Kangana were to hold a ministerial position. One person humorously remarked, "I fear that if Kangana were to become the Education Minister, she might want to rewrite history by claiming that Subhash Chandra Bose was the first prime minister of independent India."
