African footballer racially abused by crowd in Kerala | Watch

A shameful incident has been reported from the Malappuram district of Kerala where an Ivory Coast football player has claimed he was the target of a racial remark and a mob attack.

In his police complaint, the victim who has been identified as Dairrassouba Hassane Junior said that a gang of fans had beaten and stoned him, racial epithets notwithstanding. However, the spectators have alleged that the player kicked one of them, which led to the incident.

According to the information, Hassane Junior was hired to play seven footballs, a variation of the game with seven players on each side for a football club Jawahar Mavoor. However, the alleged attack happened when the West African country player chose to play a five-a-side match near Areekode.

In his complaint to the Malappuram district chief, Hassane mentioned that the mob threw stones at him and called him an African monkey, a black cat. Hussane further said that he ran to save his life when people were pelting stones at him. “The incident hurt me mentally, as they insulted me and my race,” he said.

Meanwhile, the complaint has been forwarded to the Areekode police station and the investigation has been initiated to take action.
