Just months after spiritual speaker Jaya Kishori faced backlash for carrying a Dior bag, 10-year-old Abhinav Arora, a spiritual content creator nicknamed "Bal Sant," is now under fire for sporting a designer Dior backpack at the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Holy Dip with a Touch of Dior

Abhinav Arora, a 10-year-old spiritual orator, was filmed at the Maha Kumbh Mela carrying a black Dior backpack, which retails for over ₹2 lakhs. In a video shared on his Instagram channel, the “Bal Sant”, held the Dior bag as he said he was about to take a holy dip in the Sangam - the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers. He was filmed saying "Mahakumbh mein bheed lagi hai bhaari. Radha Rani ki dripa se, Sangam mein dubki lagane ki aa gayi meri baari (There is a lot of crowd in Mahakumbh. By the grace of Radha Rani, it is my turn to take a dip in Sangam)."

"Bal Sant" or Brand Ambassador?

Abhinav Arora, has cultivated a social media image of a spiritual person devoted to prayers rather than worldly matters. The image of him with a designer bag seemed at odds with his persona, sparking mixed reactions on social media. As with Jaya Kishori, some questioned the apparent contradiction between his spiritual image and the materialism associated with luxury brands, like Dior, as some observers questioned whether he was carrying a fake bag. The juxtaposition of spirituality and luxury has reignited the debate about materialism and religious figures.

X user Sanjoy Ghose sarcastically commented, "To all those who mocked poor Abhinav, at such a young age he has managed to get himself a Dior bag which costs lakhs and has also taken it to Prayag! What have you achieved?". While some defended Abhinav, others criticized him, suggesting he was using spirituality as a means to earn money. Some users compared him to Jaya Kishori, who faced similar criticism for carrying a Dior tote bag. This is not the first time that Abhinav Arora has faced public scrutiny. In December, he approached a Delhi court seeking an FIR against YouTubers who trolled him. His young age and spiritual persona have made him a target for both admiration and criticism.
