The Instagram user, Nsa Thomas, posted a video explaining the uncomfortable situation that unfolded during her ride. According to her, the driver began asking inappropriate questions about her sex life, including, “How many times have you had sex with your boyfriend?” and “What are the sexual acts you get involved in?”
The woman clarified that the taxi was not operated by RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) or Careem, which are the authorized taxi services in the emirate. Instead, it was a random taxi she boarded in Deira, a popular district in Dubai. She shared the disturbing interaction, stating that the driver even asked her, “You didn’t f**k tonight?” making her uncomfortable and upset.
Social media users reacted strongly to the incident, with some pointing out the risks of using illegal taxis. One user commented, “Why are you entering illegal taxis!! This is why the police made it illegal, and you people still ride in them; please avoid using it and use the legal ones.”
Another user empathized with the woman but expressed frustration over the post's negative tone, saying, “Hey there, please stop sharing your negative experiences with someone who is not from my nationality while using my country’s flag. I feel bad that you went through this in my country. If you have a complaint, you should address it to the police directly.” Others were more supportive, offering help to file a formal complaint. One comment read, “If you’d like, I’m more than happy to help you file a complaint against this person. Just provide me with the car details, date, and location of the incident.” A third user commented, “Oh girl! Did you get his vehicle details? Straight to the police. He’ll get fined heavily and arrested.” The original poster replied, “Nope! Was one of those random Deira pickup cars, not Careem - I'd be sure not to hop into any of those again.”
