New Delhi: A viral video of a heated argument between two women in the ladies' coach of the Delhi Metro has once again reawakened the discussion on the etiquette for public transport. The video posted on Instagram by delhi.connection captures an evenly dramatic confrontation that quickly heats up from words to physical altercation.

The heated argument

The video opens with one woman sarcastically yelling, "Sit on my lap!" to the other, who shockingly takes the comment literally. When the first tries to sit down on her, it leads to a chaotic scene. The woman sitting down responds by standing up, pulling on the other woman's hair, and engaging in a physical fight. Alarmed bystanders soon step in to separate the two, bringing the altercation to an uneasy halt.

Social media reactions

The video has sparked several discussions on Instagram, as the users weigh in on the commuter behavior. One user said, "I think this is a subject for concern. People should not physically assault one another." Another was to raise the point that mutual respect and understanding are overdue, mentioning that "everyone gets tired after work, no one owned the seats, and entitlement and personal space must be respected. Nothing physical ever solves anything."

Reflection on metro etiquette

The problem is not a new one to point out how decorum can be hard to maintain in overcrowded public areas. Many of the commuters share their frustration at the expense of daily travel tension. Public transport experts argue that the development of sympathy and tolerance among passengers should be promoted so that traveling could be less strenuous.

Call to action

This viral incident clearly raises a dire need for proper education of commuters towards conflict resolution and personal space inside public transport. As millions throng Delhi Metro daily, promoting a culture of respect and understanding is what may help prevent incidents like these from happening again.
