Rajasthan: Abhay Singh, extensively known as 'IIT Baba', was compactly detained in Jaipur after police set up him in possession of ganja(marijuana). A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic medicines and Psychotropic Substances(NDPS) Act.
Singh, an IIT Bombay graduate who gained fashionability during the Maha Kumbh Mela, was staying at a hostel in Jaipur’s Riddhi Siddhi area when police entered complaints of a disturbance. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a small volume of marijuana in his possession. Although detained, Singh was released shortly after, as the quantum of ganja recovered was within the admissible legal limit, officers said.
Following his release, Singh addressed the media, calling the detention gratuitous. Mostly every baba consumes weed as a prasad. Would they arrest all of them?" he questioned. He further claimed that as an Aghori baba, his consumption of ganja was part of spiritual customs. Still, Singh latterly chose to play down the contestation, telling journalists "It's my birthday, and I want to be happy moment."
Abhay Singh, also known as IIT Baba, is an IIT Bombay alumnus and former aerospace engineer who left behind a promising career for church. His trip from engineering to asceticism gained attention, particularly after a viral interview during the Maha Kumbh Mela. In an earlier interview, Singh revealed that a delicate nonage and strained family connections pushed him towards a spiritual hunt. His family reportedly dismissed his passion for photography, calling him frenetic. This treatment led him to consider leaving home in hunt of deeper meaning in life. Singh's transition from academia to asceticism continues to fascinate and divide public opinion, with his rearmost run- heft with the law adding yet another chapter to his unconventional trip.
