As the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Elections unfolded in Mumbai, veteran actor Paresh Rawal ventured out to cast his vote, a routine exercise for many citizens. However, his comments about non-voters during this civic duty sparked a heated debate online. Rawal's suggestion that non-voters should face penalties, such as increased taxes or other forms of punishment, drew mixed reactions from netizens.
In response to a tweet critiquing his stance as advocating fascism and dictatorship, Rawal engaged in a confrontational exchange with a user. His retort, laden with an expletive, demonstrated his refusal to back down from his controversial viewpoint.
Emphasizing the importance of voting, Rawal reiterated his stance, asserting that those who abstain from voting should bear responsibility for the government's actions. He highlighted the importance of civic participation and criticized the tendency to shirk this duty, attributing it to the creation of ineffective political leadership.

Rawal's retort followed a comment from @ashu_nauty, who expressed disapproval, stating, "Finally, someone is advocating for clear fascism and dictatorship - Paresh Rawal Paresh Rawal ji is asking people to vote".
Similarly, @error040290 remarked, "It’s voters right if he/she wants to vote he/she will vote. If he/she doesn't want to vote then they won’t. You are no one to told them what they have to do or what the government should have to do with them".
