Virendra Dhanuk, a scheduled caste watchman at the Nawabganj police station, was brutally beaten on Tuesday by two home guards assigned to the security of Tehsildar Rajneesh Saxena. The assault took place in the middle of the road within the Tehsil premises. The home guards not only hurled abuses at him but also attacked him with rifle butts and stomped on his face with their boots.

Incident and Complaint

Following the incident, Virendra filed a complaint at Nawabganj police station, leading to an FIR against the two home guards. Virendra also lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister's portal.

According to his complaint, Virendra, a resident of Bahorangla village, stated that he went to the Tehsil around 4 PM to resolve some issues. During this time, home guards Virbahadur Gangwar and Rampal Gangwar, who were on duty for the Tehsildar's security, were conversing with several people.

Allegations and Attack

Virendra claimed that during the conversation, the home guards used derogatory language against those who voted for parties other than the BJP despite receiving free rations. When they began to abuse such individuals, Virendra objected, stating that poor people are entitled to avail government benefits and vote according to their wishes.

This led to the home guards abusing Virendra, and when he protested, they attacked him. They threw him to the ground, stomped on his head, and beat him severely with rifle butts.

Public Reaction and Police Action

A large crowd gathered at the scene but no one intervened to help Virendra; instead, people stood by and recorded videos. After the incident, Virendra went to the police station to file a complaint and also reported the matter on the Chief Minister's portal. Following the viral spread of the assault video, the police registered an FIR against the two home guards late at night. However, they have not been arrested yet.
