In a move aimed at restricting people to use ad blockers, YouTube is looking at an aggressive approach. According to the statement issued by The Verge, the company is running “A small experiment globally that urges viewers with ad blockers enabled to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium.”The announcement comes after few users began noticing a new prompt warning that video playback could be cut off if YouTube detects repeated use of ad blocking tools. As per reports, Google spokesperson Oluwa Falodun said, “Ad blocker detection is not new, and other publishers regularly ask viewers to disable ad blockers.” Oluwa further said that they are taking it quite seriously. Adding to the statement, he said, “We take disabling playback very seriously, and will only disable playback if viewers ignore repeated requests to allow ads on YouTube. In cases when viewers feel they have been falsely flagged as using an ad blocker, they can share this feedback by clicking on the link in the prompt.”For US$11.99 a month or US$119.99 a year, YouTube Premium offers ad-free access to the service (along with other perks like offline downloads and YouTube Music Premium).
