The most anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 kicks off from today and the excitement among fans is as clear as day. Taking part in the buzz around the World Cup, Google has launched a new Google doodle to commemorate the commencement of this mega event at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from 2 p.m.The creative doodle shows two ducks running between the wickets in the presence of an array of audience in the background. On clicking the doodle, the user will be directed to the full schedule of the tournament.Moreover, the cricket bat motif is also replicated in the word “Google” used in the Doodle.ICC Cricket World Cup 2023The World Cup takes place every four years and this year India is the host for the tournament. This will be the 13th edition of the event that originated in 1975. Ten national teams are poised to vie for the coveted championship.The opening match for World Cup 2023, is between the finalists of the 2019 World Cup, England and New Zealand. Out of the 10 teams participating only four teams will progress to the knockout stage, which consists of two semi-final matches and one cup final in Ahmedabad.Security tightened for World Cup 2023The security has been tightened across different cities where the match will take place including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Dharamsala and Pune.As per media sources, about 3,500 police personnel will be deployed at Narendra Modi stadium in the Motera area and other parts of Ahmedabad during the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup on October 5.“As many as 16 IPS officers will be on the field to supervise our security set-up on Thursday during the cricket match. The same security arrangement, consisting of different layers, will be also implemented in subsequent matches to be played at the Narendra Modi stadium as part of the World Cup,” Joint Commissioner of Police, sector 1, Chirag Koradia on Wednesday.The Indian team is aiming for a third Mens ODI World Cup title claim after achieving previous successes in 1983 and 2011. The 13th edition of the tournament sees India being the sole host of this event after being co-hosts on three previous occasions in 1987, 1996 and 2011.
