The messaging app WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, may introduce a new feature that simplifies user communication. This new feature, which was found during beta testing, will highlight recent online contacts so that users may easily start a chat with someone they have recently interacted with.

WABetainfo's involvement

This new feature, which WABetainfo reportedly saw in beta testing, is another step in WhatsApp's continuous effort to improve security and the user experience. It is expected that this tool would give consumers an easy way to get in touch with friends, family, and coworkers who are active right now or have recently been online.
This feature will construct a list of current active connections instead of providing an exhaustive roster of online contacts. It is anticipated that this carefully selected lineup will be extremely helpful for people looking to start a call, providing insightful information about who is open for conversation right now.

WhatsApp and its new functionality

The launch of this functionality by WhatsApp is consistent with its larger goal of streamlining its platform to facilitate quicker and more effective communication. WhatsApp aims to improve communication experiences by encouraging users to interact with contacts who have recently been active. This allows users to easily connect with contacts anytime they are free.  Recall that there have also been rumors that WhatsApp is constantly developing updates to improve security and add new features.

More on the new feature

The chat lock feature was introduced by the platform in November of last year, enabling users to secure confidential discussions with a secret code. There was a significant flaw, too, in that this feature only worked with primary devices, leaving talks on linked devices vulnerable. According to reports, WhatsApp is working on an upgrade to fix this problem and enable chat lockdown on all connected devices in addition to the primary one. The purpose of this update is to improve user privacy by maintaining the protection of closed chats on several platforms.

Beta's rollout

The most recent WhatsApp beta version is purportedly testing this new functionality, which allows users to lock chats concurrently across various devices, according to WABetaInfo reports. By creating a secret code on their primary device and applying it to other linked devices via the updated privacy settings, users can enable this capability on many devices.
