According to the sources, Amit Sharma, the Chief Technology Officer of Dream Sports, stated that the website is used by 150 million people and hosts more than 12,000 matches per year across 12 different sports and 308 million queries per minute during a fantasy cricket competition. It is about data, technology, and having the vision to improve sports.

The fantasy sports Dream 11, Dream Sports’ flagship brand combines the thrill of live sports and the excitement of online gaming, where one can create a virtual tea, of real players playing in real-life matches. Contestants also get points based on the performance of the player during a live game.

Reportedly, Dream 11 is the world’s largest fantasy sports platform with more than 150 million users who engage themselves in playing fantasy cricket, kabaddi, basketball, hockey, volleyball, handball, rugby, futsal, American football and baseball. In Sharma’s opinion, technology will bridge the gap between sports and sports fans. Hence their company kept on innovating and experimenting for the user base of 160 million across Dream Sports.

According to the sources, Sharma claims that Dream Sports is expanding its position in sports travel and experiences with DreamSetGo, developing fintech for sports with DreamX, and making strategic investments through its venture capital and CVC (Corporate Venture Capital) arm, Dream Capital, to create the sports tech ecosystem. He pointed out one of the world’s biggest fantasy sports markets in India. In 2016, there were less than ten operators, and today there are more than 200.

Partnering with Web Services

It is also said that after partnering with Amazon Web Services, Dream 11 has witnessed improved productivity, streamlined company processes and drastically cheaper expenses.

After being asked about the growth of Dream 11 and its milestones over the last few years, Sharma said that over one billion sports lovers live in India, who are dispersed throughout the country. On the Dream11 platform, 150 million individuals follow their favourite sports. The company run around 12,000 games a year across 12 sports and mainly depends on data to give our consumers a flawless, personalised fantasy sports experience.

Sharma also added that the addition of the new one million users had been made possible by focusing on technology to scale up the performance and offerings for both new and existing users. The company also hire people from India’s leading tech institutes, to innovate and build the tech future.

Company’s growth and strategy

On being asked about what kind of growth is the company expecting and what strategy will the platform follow to further expand the user base in the upcoming years. The CTO said that Dream Sports works with the vision to make sports better. He further added that to date Dreams 11 is the world’s largest fantasy sports platform with over 150 million users and with the help of new technology like Web3 and NFTs, the company will also focus on building a partnership network with sports leagues, players and teams.

Talking about AWS

Being in the cloud was the natural choice for Dream11 because of its vast size, large variation in peak concurrency and traffic, quick time-to-market, and flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and demands. AWS was a logical choice for a cloud partner due to its extensive offering of online services and solutions and broad operational expertise, the CTO said.

The use of AWS and the variety of uses for which the company might utilize it have both grown over time. This has improved the speed, strength, and dexterity of the brand while enabling it to minimize variable costs. The company also claims that improved productivity and more seamless company operations since collaborating with AWS are seen. Scaling has resulted in considerable cost reductions and a shorter time to market.
