If you rely on ChatGPT for your daily tasks, here’s some disappointing news. According to reports, ChatGPT’s servers went down yet again, marking the second such incident in just two months. Several users worldwide experienced outages, with many encountering a "Bad Gateway" error when attempting to send commands via the chatbot.
This is not the first time ChatGPT has faced such issues. Over the past two months, this marks the fourth reported instance of the AI chatbot encountering server outages. The popular AI tool from OpenAI left users frustrated as it became inaccessible.
On November 8, 2024, ChatGPT first encountered widespread issues, with server-level outages being reported globally. Similar incidents followed on December 11, 2024, and later that same month, leaving users questioning the platform's reliability.
The most recent outage was reported on January 23, 2025, starting at around 5 PM IST. According to Downdetector, a platform that tracks website and app outages, over 4,000 users reported issues within 30 minutes of the disruption.
During the outage, users encountered frequent "Bad Gateway" errors and were unable to send commands through the chatbot interface. OpenAI has not yet shared the cause of these recurring disruptions.
As with previous outages, users took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice their frustration. Many shared screenshots from Downdetector, confirming they, too, were facing similar challenges.
Notably, the outages have not been limited to ChatGPT but have also impacted other OpenAI services like Sora and APIs. On December 27, 2024, another outage was reported at midnight IST, further compounding user concerns about platform reliability.
