Have you ever been chatting with a chatbot and gotten a fantastic response, except for one tiny detail?  Well, fret no more! Google just introduced a new feature for its AI chatbot, Gemini, that empowers you to take control and refine its responses with greater precision.

This update is currently available on the Gemini web app, and lets you target specific parts of the AI's response and tweak them to your liking. Imagine asking Gemini about the history of flight, and while its answer is informative, you'd prefer a slightly shorter version. No need to start over! Simply highlight the section you want to be adjusted, and Gemini offers you a menu with options like 'Shorter,' 'Longer,' or even 'Regenerate' to rewrite that specific portion entirely.

Google explains through blog post

"We're launching a more precise way for you to tune Gemini's responses," Google announced in a recent blog post. This feature caters to a common frustration with AI chatbots – sometimes a single sentence can throw off the whole response. Previously, the only options were to rewrite the entire prompt or accept the imperfect answer. Now, with granular control, you can achieve the desired response much faster.

Here's how it works

After receiving a response, highlight the text you want to modify. A handy pencil icon appears, along with the familiar Gemini logo. Hovering over the icon reveals the option 'Modify selected text.' Clicking it unveils four choices: Regenerate, Shorter, Longer, and Remove. These functionalities are pretty straightforward – regenerate rewrites the chosen part, shorter condenses it, longer expands on it, and removes deletes it completely. Moreover, you can provide further instructions within that specific section for even more control.

This update is a game-changer for those who frequently interact with AI chatbots. By enabling granular modifications, Google streamlines the conversation flow and empowers users to get the most out of Gemini's capabilities.
