Open AI crisis worsens after other top rank officials resign

The board of the company behind ChatGPT on Friday fired OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, sending shock waves to the tech industry.

The crisis at OpenAI seems to be getting worsen after appointing Mira Murati as interim CEO, sacking Sam Altman on Friday. According to the sources, Over a "quick" meeting on Google Meet, ChatGPT creator OpenAI sacked CEO Sam Altman and removed co-founder Greg Brockman from the board mentioning that Sam is not consistently candid in his communications with the board.  

Soon after this, taking to his official X account, Brockman on Saturday said that he and Sam were "shocked and saddened" by what the board did and were "still trying to figure out" exactly what happened.

Sharing a string of tweets, Brockman shared that following the shocking news, he is also quitting from his post.

"Last night, Sam got a text from Ilya asking to talk at noon Friday. Sam joined a Google Meet and the whole board, except Greg, was there. Ilya told Sam he was being fired and that the news was going out very soon," Brockman wrote in his tweet.

He added, “At 12:19pm, Greg got a text from Ilya asking for a quick call. At 12:23pm, Ilya sent a Google Meet link. Greg was told that he was being removed from the board (but was vital to the company and would retain his role) and that Sam had been fired. Around the same time, OpenAI published a blog post.”

He ended the tweet by mentioning, “The outpouring of support has been really nice; thank you, but please don’t spend any time being concerned. We will be fine. Greater things coming soon.”

Following this, Sam Altman also shared a tweet calling the action "a weird experience" in many ways.

"Today was a weird experience in many ways. but one unexpected one is that it has been sorta like reading your own eulogy while you're still alive. the outpouring of love is awesome," he said.

Three other officials resigned

Following the surprising act by OpenAI, three senior OpenAI researchers Jakub Pachocki, Aleksander Madry and Szymon Sidor also resigned, sources claimed.
