The tech giant is coming up with a new feature that will help users in naming the groups they create on WhatsApp. The feature will be an answer to the people who can’t think of any name while creating a group.

This feature would work as an update over the existing way that requires users to specify group names during creation.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday announced the update on his Facebook page and Meta’s Instagram channel. The feature will help users create a group, even if they have not decided any name.

The new feature will be rolled out in some days. This update came as an addition to the app, days it introduced the support for HD photos.

With the help of this new feature, anonymous groups will be restricted to a maximum of six members, as compared to a standard WhatsApp group, which may have up to 1,024 members. According to the firm, these groups’ names will change automatically dependent on the members who are joined to them.

Each participant’s group name will display differently based on how they have their contacts saved on their phone. According to the official update, if you join a group with members who haven’t saved their contacts, the group name will include your phone number. This suggests that the feature is most likely targeted at close friends and family members who already know one another.

According to the official information, the feature will be available globally over the next few weeks.

The company few days back also provided the screen sharing feature during the video calls and ability to record short videos during the video calls.
