While the first-generation model, called Meta Ray-Ban Stories, offers a range of features, including audio playback and quick photo and video capture, but there are some limitations.
In the race of wearables, Meta and Ray-Ban does not want to leave any stone unturned.
According to the experts, with the new updated version, users will be able to launch a live stream using the second-generation Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses from Meta. Because of this capability, designers may provide viewers a better point of view (PoV). When you’re at a concert or out on a walk, it can be extremely helpful.
Additionally, since the live feed can also be done through a pair of smart glasses rather than a smartphone, it gives producers more mobility. In order to make it work flawlessly, Meta has improved the battery backup to allow the live video capability.
The new version of the smart glasses will not only let users live-stream videos directly to Facebook and Instagram but will also allow viewers to talk back through the built-in headphones.
It is to be noted here that according to a report shared by The Wall Street Journal only 27,000 consumers were still being regularly using the pieces, out of 300,000 units sold between September 2021 and February 2023. And now, with the second generation of Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses, it seems that Meta Platforms is struggling to retain the consumers.
Report also claims that the drop in the usage and sale of the smart glasses was the result of several technical problems, including faults in voice commands, audio, battery life, difficulty in importing media files from other devices. Nearly, 13% of the buyers returned the pieces after purchase.
