Meta, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is all set to launch its much-anticipated app titled ‘Threads’, which is aimed at being an alternative to Twitter.

According to the latest update from Apple’s App Store data in the US, it is anticipated that the app will get launched on July 6 and will be available for download for users. According to the sources, ‘Threads’ will be linked to Instagram accounts and could have a leg up on Twitter.

Expert calls it a rivalry move between Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter’s Elon Musk.

The App Store description read, “Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things, or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions, and creativity with the world.”

According to the sources, the new app ‘Threads’ will let users sign in with their Instagram account and they will also be able to follow the accounts that they are already following on the photo and video-sharing app. In addition to this, users can also keep the same username on the app as they have on Instagram. Hence, signing up for Threads would be easy if you are already an Instagram user.

How will you be able to use ‘Threads’

Despite having a close relationship with Instagram, Threads will be a stand-alone application. At the time of the debut, users will be able to like, comment on, repost, and share posts. According to screenshots posted on the Apple App Store, users can select whether they want to let everyone, those they follow, or only those specified in the post comment on their posts.
