Meta offers explanation for Facebook and Instagram down

On Tuesday evening, users globally, including those in India, encountered a substantial disruption in accessing Meta platforms, namely Facebook and Instagram, as both were rendered inaccessible for more than a couple of hours. The widespread network outage across Google and Meta apps surfaced around 9 pm, leading to a surge in user complaints and frustration.

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Meta promptly responded to the challenges faced by users, assuring them that efforts were underway to rectify the issue. The incident triggered significant online activity, with terms such as "Cyberattack," "Mark Zuckerberg," and "Instagram Facebook Down" swiftly becoming top-trending topics on various platforms.

In response to the disruption, Meta spokesperson Andy Stone took to an X post to address the concerns, stating, "We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now." Stone later confirmed the successful resolution of the issue, expressing regret for any inconvenience caused. However, the spokesperson did not delve into specifics regarding the nature of the technical glitch that led to the global disruption.

Elon Musk's X remained unaffected

Amidst the chaos, Elon Musk's platform remained unscathed, operating smoothly while users grappled with accessing Meta platforms.

Seizing the opportunity, the Twitter CEO swiftly highlighted the apparent reliability of his platform, subtly emphasizing its "superiority" during the outage faced by Meta.
