The reports of the tragic death of Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, who led a failed coup against Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a plane crash has shocked the globe. As there was no cause of the crash revealed by officials, the announcement of his demise raised suspicions about whether the Wagner chief had been killed or not.

Notably, in June, Vladimir Putin had denounced Yevgeny Prigozhin as ‘treason,’ but the militia leader had appeared to escape immediate retaliation after striking a deal with the Kremlin to leave the country and move to Belarus.

Here’s what Elon Musk said on the Wagner chief’s death:

Now, reacting to Prigozhin’s death, Tesla CEO and owner of X Elon Musk said that it took “longer” than he expected. “Slight chance this is a psy op,” he added.

His response came after an X user posted, “That didn’t take too long.”

Official statements on plane crash

Reportedly, Wagner’s chief was on board a private plane that crashed while travelling between Moscow and St. Petersburg.

According to preliminary information, all 10 people on board died, including three crew members, the ministry said.

Russia’s aviation agency, Rosaviatsia said it set up a special commission to investigate the crash of the aircraft belonging to MNT-Aero.
