Owner and CTO of Twitter, Elon Musk keep on exciting the users with some or the other update. This time he has introduced a new feature to hide the ‘Blue’ tick. After implementing the paid subscription service which charges US$8 for a blue verification badge on the microblogging site, the hide option was not available to the user.

One of the features at the microblogging site reads, “Hide your checkmark: As a subscriber, you can choose to hide your checkmark on your account. The checkmark will be hidden on your profile and posts. The checkmark may still appear in some places and some features could still reveal you have an active subscription. Some features may not be available while your checkmark is hidden. We will continue to evolve this feature to make it better for you.”

Noteworthy is, that Twitter introduced the ‘Blue’ tick back in 2009 to help the user identify celebrities, politicians, brands and organisations (whichever is for public interest). However, company was not charging for the service since then. But, on April 1, soon after few weeks of take over of the blogging platform, Musk launched Twitter Blue with the check-mark badge as one of the premium perks.

After the implementation of paid subscription service which charges US$8 for blue verification badge, twitter removed the free version of blue tick from the verified accounts.

B-town celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt, politicians UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi and cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are among those who lost their verified blue ticks from their Twitter accounts. But got the badge back after a few days.

And in the latest move, on July 24, the company replaced its recognizable blue bird with letter ‘X’ as the new logo.
