Google has unveiled its new artificial intelligence (AI) subscription service called 'Gemini Advanced'. The launch comes after multiple reports and confirmation from Google CEO Sundar Pichai during the company's latest earnings call.

The new premium tier will give users access to Google's most advanced AI capabilities. It runs on the company's powerful Gemini Ultra model and aims to offer enhanced reasoning, task completion, coding skills and creative collaboration compared to the free Gemini service.

Speaking at a press conference, Pichai announced the roll-out of Gemini Advanced saying, "The version with Ultra will be called Gemini Advanced, a new experience far more capable at reasoning, following instructions, coding, and creative collaboration."

He explained that Gemini Advanced will be bundled into Google's One cloud storage plan, meaning subscribers will get all Google One benefits including 2TB of cloud storage.

According to Google, Gemini Ultra can generate step-by-step instructions, sample quizzes and simulated discussions making it an ideal personal tutor for academic guidance or professional development. The model is also highly skilled at advanced coding tasks like generating, analysing, editing and debugging complex code.

Additionally, digital creators can leverage Gemini Advanced to generate engaging content ideas, analyse trending topics and strategise audience growth tactics.

The free Gemini service, which runs on Gemini Pro, has also been renamed from Bard to standardise branding. Both Gemini and Gemini Advanced will be accessible via the web and Android apps. iOS users can try the AI assistant through the Google app.

Google has priced Gemini Advanced at Rs.1,950 per month but is currently offering the first two months free as a promotional deal.

"Bard has been the best way for people to directly experience our most capable models. To reflect the advanced tech at its core, Bard will now simply be called Gemini," Pichai said about the rebranding.
