In collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI), Google has introduced a new feature on Google Pay that allows users to make UPI payments using RuPay credit cards. By adding their RuPay credit cards to Google Pay, users gain the ability to conveniently make payments to both online and offline merchants. This partnership enhances the payment options available to users and expands the accessibility of UPI-based transactions.Currently, Google Pay accepts RuPay credit cards issued by Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Indian Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Union Bank of India. Google has also announced plans to include additional banks in the near future, expanding the range of supported financial institutions for RuPay credit card payments on the platform.For those who may not be familiar, Google Pay, similar to other payment apps that use UPI (Unified Payments Interface), previously only supported payments using debit cards. However, with this recent update, users now have the ability to add their RuPay credit card to Google Pay, enabling them to make seamless payments to merchants throughout India. Its important to note that, currently, there is no option available to add credit cards issued by Visa and Mastercard to Google Pay or any other UPI payment app in India.The process of adding a RuPay credit card to Google Pay is straightforward and similar to adding a bank account using a debit card.To add a RuPay credit card to Google Pay, follow these steps:Open the Google Pay app and go to the settings menu.Look for the option “Setup payment method” and tap on it.Select “Add RuPay credit card” from the available options.Enter the required details, such as the last six digits of the credit card, expiry date, and PIN.Authenticate the process by entering the OTP (One-Time Password) received on your registered mobile number.Once the authentication is successful, you can now select the RuPay credit card as your preferred payment method when making payments to any UPI vendor.To make a payment, you can either scan the vendors barcode or enter their UPI ID or phone number.By following these steps, you can easily add and use your RuPay credit card for transactions within Google Pay.
