An 18-year-old high school graduate who was rejected by 16 colleges has been hired by the tech giant Google. According to the information, the young body was rejected by 16 colleges, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Carnegie Melon and Stanford.
Stanley Zhong, from Palo Alto, graduated from Gunn High School this year scoring 1590 out of 1600 in Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), which thousands take for admission to undergraduate schools, and even started his own start-up RabbitSign in sophomore year but was rejected by 16 of the 18 colleges he applied to.
According to the sources, Stanley has been hired as a full-time software engineer at Google.
However, a wave of rejections came with a surprise job offer from Google. The teenager started with his new profile as Software Engineer at the Mountain View, California-headquartered company.
To accept the job offer, Stanley had to put aside his admission to University of Texas, which is among one of only two colleges where his application got accepted, the other being University of Maryland.
The story of the teenager got highlighted after it was highlighted by a witness testifying at the House Committee on Education and the Workforce hearing.
