Facing trouble to generate images with ChatGPT? You aren't alone, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman acknowledges issue

OpenAI on Tuesday introduced a new image generation feature in ChatGPT-4o, which has been opened up to all users of the ChatGPT free, pro, plus, and team accounts. Shortly after the rollout, users began to experiment with the features and found how great it is at producing the soft, dreamy quality that appears straight out of Studio Ghibli movies.

Shortly after the rollout, users began to experiment with the features and found how great it is at producing the soft, dreamy quality that appears straight out of Studio Ghibli movies. People began to post these images on X

Difficulty in producing images on ChatGPT

This prompted more users to experiment with the feature. And it soon turned into a viral trend. Users began to convert their profile pictures, pets, movie scenes, and even some historical moments in history into dainty anime-style paintings. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and X CEO Elon Musk also got in on the action. But while this was a viral trend, most users were still finding it difficult to produce a single image on their ChatGPT primarily the free users.

OpenAI CEO acknowledges issue with image generation

If you are among them, you are not alone. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has acknowledged that there is some issue which is causing ChatGPT to not allow some generations, which it should. He states that the company is implementing a fix for that. "We are rejecting some generations that should be accepted; we are repairing these as quickly as we can."Most ChatGPT users on Thursday reported that the chatbot could not produce images for them explaining that their request did not comply with the company's content policy rules.

Content policy issues affect image generation

Although this problem appears to be across plus, pro, and team users as well. For the free users, however, we think the problem could be because ChatGPT is not permitting them to select a particular model when they enter a prompt. Based on server load, ChatGPT might be switching models — including those models that do not support the image generation feature â€" causing trouble accessing the feature. But hopefully the problem should be resolved for all users now, according to claims by Altman.

Server load issues affect free users

That is, although ultimately the image creation request may perhaps become more straightforward, OpenAI will also shortly begin to censor image creation requests. Sam Altman on Thursday said that it is great that ChatGPT users are loving the image generation feature, but it has overworked OpenAI's GPUs, and the company wants to cap requests for image generation.

Restrictions to be imposed on free tier users

It is "super fun seeing people love images in ChatGPT" but "our GPUs are melting," Altman wrote in an X post. He indicates, to address this overload, OpenAI will impose a restriction on how many image generation requests per account are permitted. "We're going to add some temporary rate limits while we make it more efficient. hopefully won't be long!" The restriction will be tighter for those using the free plan. "Chatgpt free tier will have 3 generations per day soon", he continues.
