Billionaire Elon Musk is on trend again as a map showing the sea route from India to the United States has caught the attention of the SpaceX owner. The map in question shows a possible sea route to sail from India to the US in a straight line. The post has been viewed more than 6 million times on X (formerly Twitter). The map shows that if we sail straight in a straight line we can reach the US from India without hitting any piece of land. It shows a curved blue line between the two countries – from Mumbai to Alaska via Madagascar. Post of Elon Musk Taking to X Musk reposted the map shared by the handle Epic Maps captioned “Without touching a single piece of land, its possible to sail from India to the USA in a completely straight line”. While sharing the post he wrote “Whoa”.Whoa— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 27, 2023 Elon Musk post receives varied reactionsSocial media users have been sharing their responses since Musk shared this post with many saying that this route seems a little less straightforward. Some X users also questioned whether the map maker really knew what they were talking about. One user commented “This line is far from straight,” wrote one user. “Thats not straight though,” commented another confused user. However, when drawn on a globe the route appears to be straight and not curved. The two-dimensional diagram shows the route to the US from India as a curved line whereas on a three-dimensional surface, it is a straight line. One user brought forward this perspective and replied to another users question on the line being straight and wrote “Because Earth is a globe and this is a 2d projection, this is what the path actually looks like.”because Earth is a globe and this is a 2d projection, this is what the path actually looks like pic.twitter.com/1MnxhXAfMG— c 🌖 (@sekira22) September 27, 2023 Giving information on an even shorter route one user commented “You can make a shorter route through Panama Channel instead of go around whole South America. Its an incredible experience to sail through Panama Channel.” Many, however, were doubtful of this route.because Earth is a globe and this is a 2d projection, this is what the path actually looks like pic.twitter.com/1MnxhXAfMG— c 🌖 (@sekira22) September 27, 2023 Musk was recently in news after it was disclosed that the Tesla owner had privately welcomed a third child with ex-partner Grimes.
