Video streaming giant Netflix has landed the rights to American video game publisher, Rockstar Games' hit  Grand Theft Auto Trilogy- The Definitive Edition, bringing the iconic video game collection to mobile devices next month.

Starting December 14, Netflix subscribers can access Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas on iOS and Android phones and tablets. The "definitive editions" of the classic GTA titles have been updated and optimized for mobile gameplay.

Who is eligible to play GTA Trilogy on Netflix?

Netflix announced the licensing deal in a blog post on Tuesday, allowing members with access to its Netflix Games catalogue to pre-register for the Trinity bundle beginning November 30. The games expand Netflix's growing library of over 80 free mobile games spanning various genres.

The news comes on the heels of Rockstar Games teasing the official trailer for the hotly anticipated next Grand Theft Auto title. Rockstar President Sam Houser confirmed the first look will drop in early December.

Hopes up for a female protagonist?

While details remain limited, reports suggest Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature the series’ first playable female protagonist in a fictionalized version of Miami. The game would mirror the South Florida setting of 2002's hit Vice City.

As Netflix pushes into the mobile gaming market and Rockstar nears its next likely billion-dollar release, the Trinity collection represents a marquee content collaboration between the entertainment giants.
