iPhone company Apple has issued a warning to their mobile phone users and alerted them for the potential dangers of sleeping next to the mobile phone while it is on charging. In the latest announcement the company has asserted the importance of proper charging and highlighted the drawbacks and dangers associated with sleeping alongside a device connected to a charging cable.

To avoid any hazards, Apple has instructed the users to charge their mobile phones in the proper ventilated area. The risks include the potential for fire, electric shock, injuries, or damage to the phone and property.

Apart from this, the tech company has also advised the users not to charge their mobile phone while under a blanket or pillow as it poses and increased risk as the device could overheat quickly. The message from the tech company says: “Don’t sleep on a device, power adapter, or wireless charger, or place them under a blanket, pillow, or your body, when it’s connected to a power source.”

Apple advises: “Keep your iPhone, the power adapter, and any wireless charger in a well-ventilated area when in use or charging.” It concludes: “Take special care if you have a physical condition that affects your ability to detect heat against the body.”

People tend you use third party charges also, but that too is increases the risk of danger to the mobile phone, according to the tech company.

Here’s what the official website says:

Wall power socket: Plug your USB charging cable into a USB power adapter, then plug the adapter into the wall.

Computer: Plug your charging cable into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on a computer that’s on and not in sleep mode. Don’t use the USB ports on your keyboard.

Power accessory: Plug your cable into a powered USB hub, docking station or other Apple-certified accessory.

The official website further says, “If you’re trying to charge wirelessly with an iPhone 8 device or later, first make sure you’re able to charge with the USB cable that came with your device. If that works, then get help with wireless charging. For a third-party accessory, check that it’s Apple certified.”

It adds, “When your device is charging, a lightning bolt will appear inside the battery icon in the status bar, or a large battery icon will be displayed on your Lock Screen.”
