Apple Inc. is planning for reshuffling in the management of its international businesses to put together a bigger focus on India for better growth, according to people with knowledge of the matter. As a result of a rise in demand, Apple will now treat India as its own sales region for the first time. That will offer the Asian nation increased prominence inside the computer giant, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the move hasn’t been publicised.

According to reports, the shift is happening after the retirement of the vice president in charge of India, the Middle East, Mediterranean, East Europe and Africa, Hugues Asseman. Reportedly, Apple is elevating Ashish Chaudhary, as the head of India, who will answer directly to Michael Fenger, the director of product sales at the corporation.

India is becoming more important to Apple’s product development in addition to being a revenue engine for the company. In addition to working with manufacturing partner Hon Hai Precision Industries Co. to set up new iPhone production facilities in the country, important suppliers are moving to the area. The latest changes in Apple’s management will not only affect internally but also how it reports regional sales in public financial results. India is currently included in the Europe countries, along with the Middle East and Africa.

Apple recorded record revenue in India for the past quarter, despite a 5 percent decline in overall sales. The Information Technology giant has set up an online store for the region and intends to construct its first physical stores there later in 2023 in order to better service the market. CEO Tom Cook emphasised the value of the Indian market during the most recent earnings call, making analogies to the company’s early years in China. Notably, Apple said that the company has witnessed an all time high for iPhone sales in India in last quarter with revealing the figures.

In order to promote iPads, Apple is also increasing offline events around the country. Apple has started a new instructional initiative today to show customers how to use their iPads and iPhones to make material that looks professional. The event is usually hosted at one of Apple’s official retail locations, none of which have yet opened in India. The event took place at the India Art Expo in Delhi last month. As per the official website of Apple, the company is planning to open its stores in Delhi and Mumbai, and may expand its stores in India. The are also hiring people for their stores.

“We are, in essence, taking what we learned in China years ago and how we scaled to China and bringing that to bear,” Tim Cook said. China currently generates roughly 75 billion dollars a year for Apple, making it the company’s biggest sales region after the Americas and Europe.

After, Asseman’s departure company has seen a sharp rise in departures of other executives from the organisation. Apple’s vice president of subscription services resigned earlier this year, and its cloud chief intends to leave the company the following month. Top executives who oversaw industrial design, purchasing, certain software and hardware engineering, privacy, information systems, and the online store all announced their departures last year.

Asseman, a corporate veteran of over two decades, divides his time between Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, and its office in London. He began his career as a marketing manager for the Mac and iPod product lines. Before taking over as Apple’s iPhone sales manager for Europe and other overseas markets in 2011, he later led retail teams. Asseman began his most recent position in 2015 and left it at the conclusion of the previous year.
