Bloomberg's Mark Gurman teased the prospect of the new ‘hearing aid mode’ in his weekly PowerOn newsletter. This move underscores Apple's commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.

Notably, previously reported on Apple's development of a ‘hearing test’ feature, enabling users to gauge their hearing ability by playing various tones through AirPods. This feature could prove invaluable for individuals with hearing impairments, potentially rendering existing apps like Mimi obsolete.

Enhanced Hearing Features:

Existing features like Live Listen, introduced with iOS 12 in 2018, already allow AirPods users to leverage their iPhones as directional microphones, transmitting real-time audio to their AirPods. Additionally, the Conversation Boost feature, unveiled for AirPods Pro in 2021, enhances mic performance for clearer phone call audio.

AI Advancements in iOS 18:

An earlier report by Gurman hinted at a host of AI features accompanying the iOS 18 update, including auto-summarization and an auto-complete function for apps. Furthermore, Apple aims to integrate AI into Apple Music, promising a more tailored and intuitive music streaming experience. The report also suggests the introduction of new AI-based developer tools, empowering creators to innovate within the Apple ecosystem.
