The adult toy industry is witnessing a significant transformation with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into sex dolls. WMDolls, one of China’s largest manufacturers of adult products, has reported a remarkable 30% increase in sales thanks to the adoption of AI models. The company claims that these advancements have drastically enhanced the user experience, making its sex dolls more responsive and interactive.

"It makes the dolls more responsive and interactive, which offers users a better experience," said Liu Jiangxia, Founder and CEO of WMDolls. The company’s incorporation of open-source AI models has resulted in a product line that offers a more engaging and personalized experience for users.

AI-enhanced dolls: A leap forward in user interaction

Based in Zhongshan, WMDolls has begun integrating advanced tools like ChatGPT into its anthropomorphic sex dolls. The company started exploring these technologies soon after the release of ChatGPT in 2022. Following a year-long development phase, WMDolls introduced its LLM-powered Metabox series, which was distributed to customers across North America and Europe.

These AI-powered dolls offer more than just physical interaction; they provide varied personalities and the ability to continue conversations even after a few days, something traditional sex dolls, limited to simple responses, cannot do.

Addressing concerns about data privacy, Liu reassured customers, stating, "All data is stored locally in the country [where the dolls are used] and we don't have access to them."

Robot girlfriend: The future of companionship

The trend of AI-driven intimacy continues with the unveiling of 'Aria,' a robot designed by Realbotix, which was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Aria, which can express nearly human-like emotions, is touted as a solution for male loneliness.

Andrew Kiguel, CEO of Realbotix, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating robots that are "indistinguishable from humans." He added, "It can be like a romantic partner. It remembers who you are."

The robot, available for a steep price of Rs 1.5 crore ($175,000), has already sparked viral interest on social media, drawing reactions ranging from fascination to fear.
