Blue ticks have been making headlines for some time now and if you would have thought that you had enough of them on social media, the users can get it on Gmail now. After Twitter and Meta, every social media platform is running towards offering blue tick to its subscribers. While some receive it organically, some have to pay for it. Google has recently launched a similar version and is now offering a blue tick for the users who have verified themselves as BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification). As per sources, the move is aimed at helping people to identify and make a difference between legitimate senders and impersonators. By displaying a blue checkmark next to verified brand logos in Gmail, users will be able to identify the businesses as well. The BIMI feature was initially launched in 2021 after undergoing several tests. The function will work as an additional safety feature, and in this, the sender has to use the brand logo as an authentication, as well as display them as an avatar on emails. This will help the user to identify whether the email they are receiving is spoofed or genuine. However, the Blue tick is not a new concept. Before this, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and many other platforms have some or the other verification badge.Who will get itGoogle has confirmed that the current feature will be available to Workspace customers, G Suite Basic, and Business customers, and personal Google accounts too. Also, there is no additional setting for the end user. Rolled out as a part of rapid release and scheduled release domains, major enterprises will have access to this feature within three days.
