Tamil Nadu’s Salem saw a tragic incident in the wee hours of Wednesday where six people including a one-year-old baby were killed in a road accident.

As per media reports, it was around 4 a.m. when the accident occurred on the Salem-Erode highway in the Sankari area of Salem district in Tamil Nadu in which a van rammed straight into a stationed lorry.

There were eight members in the van during the time of the accident, which was traveling towards Perunthurai. Six died on the spot while two were rushed to a hospital nearby.

The deceased have been identified as Selvaraj (50), M Arumugam (48), Manjula (45), Palanisami (45), Pappathi (40) and R Sanjana (1).

In the preliminary investigation, the police found CCTV footage that clearly shows the exact moment of the accident in the video. In the video now going viral on social media, the speeding van can be seen colliding with the stationary lorry.

The person driving the van has been identified as Vignesh (25) who was with another passenger called Priya (21). Both of them were severely injured in the accident and were rushed to a hospital.

Moreover, the bodies of the victims have been sent for autopsy. A case was registered, and further inquiries were on.
