Vinesh Phogat, India’s ace grappler has announced to hold a press conference with other wrestlers today (August 10) in the national capital.

Wrestlers to hold press conference today

Taking it to X, formally known as Twitter, to announce that a press conference will be held at Delhi’s Rajghat at 12.30 pm. Apart from Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik also took to X, in order to announce the details of the conference.

Sharing a tweet in Hindi, wrestler Vinesh Phogat wrote, “Hello everyone Tomorrow at 12:30 pm we are holding a press conference at Raj Ghat in Delhi. Jai Hind.”

Wrestler Vinesh, Bajrang receive exemption from ad hoc committee

Earlier, top Indian wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia received exemption from the ad hoc committee from the Asian Games in China’s Hangzhou, trials which will commence from September 23.

Responding to Antim Vinesh’s accusations, Vinesh Phogat said in a live session, “We are not against the trials. I am not blaming Antim. She is too young to understand. She is right in her place. She is fighting for her right and we are fighting for our right. But we are not wrong.”

After the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) ad hoc committee gave Phogat and Punia an exemption from the trains and direct entry into the squad in their respective weight categories last month, both wrestlers addressed the accusations made against them.

Antim Panghal’s attack on wrestlers

Wrestler Antim Panghal through a video communication has raised questions over the exemption given to wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat for direct entry into the Asian Games 2023.

Further, Delhi High Court (HC) also dismissed the petitions moved by wrestlers, Antim Panghal and Sujeet Kalkal, over the exemption given to wrestlers, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, for direct entry into the Asian Games 2023.
