A day after he has been made the new Congress chief Ajay Rai from Uttar Pradesh on Friday claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who has recently reinstated in the Parliament will ‘absolutely’ contest from Amethi.
Dispelling the speculations of Priyanka Gandhi contesting in the 2024 election, Ajay Rai said it is Priyanka Gandhi’s wish from where she wants to contest the election, if she wants to contest from Varanasi against PM Modi, every worker will work to ensure her victory.
After being asked about Smriti Irani, Ajay Rai said, “Ask her whether she could make sugar available at ₹13 per kilo as she had promised. She must answer to the public where did that sugar go.”
It is to be noted here that Ajay Rai was fielded from Varanasi at the last minute in 2019, when it was speculated that Priyanka Gandhi could run against Prime Minister Modi from there. Ajay Rai ran from Varanasi in 2014 as well, but he was defeated by Narendra Modi. Ajay Rai succeeded Brijlal Khabri as head of the Uttar Pradesh Congress months before the Lok Sabha election of 2024.
