West Bengal Trinamool Congress leader Jyotripriya Mallik was arrested by a team of Enforcement Directorate late on Thursday, October 26. Malik has been accused of an alleged case of corruption in the public distribution system.
Earlier on the day, the ED had conducted searches at Malliick’s residence in Salt Lake, on the outskirts of Kolkata. He has, however, called this move a grave conspiracy and that he is a victim of it.
As he was being taken away by the ED sleuths along with the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel aiding the arrest, the minister was heard telling the media persons outside his residence that he was a "victim of a grave conspiracy".

"West Bengal minister Jyoti Priya Mallick has been arrested by ED in connection with an alleged case of corruption in rationing distribution," the probe agency stated in an official release.
The ED has been carrying out multiple searches in connection with an alleged case of corruption in ration distribution. Neither the ruling West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee nor the ruling Trinamool Congress has not yet responded to the arrest of Jyotripriya Mallik.
Mallick is currently the state minister for Forest Affairs and previously held the portfolio for the Food and Civil Supplies department.
Moreover, the ED had also arrested former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjee earlier this year. in connection with the teachers' recruitment scam, after the recovery of huge cash from the latter's residence.
Both of them are now facing a probe into the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam, according to the ED.
Apart from this another TMV leader, Anubrata Mondal (Burbhum district president ) was also arrested in a cattle smuggling case, earlier.
The chief minister's nephew and the TMC's heavyweight leader, Abhishek Banerjee, has also been summoned and questioned by the ED on many occasions in connection with an alleged coal 'scam' case.
