A man, identified as Pravesh Shukla, has been arrested by the police for allegedly urinating on another man on camera in Madhya Pradesh.

What’s in the viral video?

The pee-gate video has now become the talk of the town as it went viral since it is shared on social media. In the viral video clip, the accused, Pravesh Shukla can be clearly seen in an inebriated state, smoking a cigarette while urinating on a tribal man sitting on the ground. The viral has now landed into a political controversy in the state, prompting Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to order a case under the stringent NSA (National Security Act) against the accused.

Police stance on the pee-gate incident

Taking notes from the incident, the police said that Shukla, who kept hopping from one place to another trying to avoid an arrest, was caught at 2 am and placed under interrogation.

Further, a case has been lodged against him under the National Security Act, SC/ST Act, and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). During the investigation, Shukla’s wife and parents were also questioned, the police said.

Is the video fake?

The victim, identified as 36-year-old Dasmat Ravat from Karaundi, when brought in for interrogation by the police has dismissed the viral video as fake.

That’s not it, the victim had also prepared an affidavit stating that the video is fake and was created to frame Shukla in a false case. However, it is said that the affidavit was allegedly prepared under duress and has not been submitted to any authorities yet.

Ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls in the state, this incident is becoming a bombshell to CM Shivraj’s led government, as the accused, Pravesh Shukla has alleged connections with the ruling BJP government, have further emboldened the opposition Congress who claimed that the shocking incident is a symptom of a wider problem of violence against tribal people in Madhya Pradesh.

‘Shame’: Ex-CM Kamal Nath

Calling the incident a ‘shame,’ former state CM Kamal Nath said, “A video of the atrocity of (a man) urinating on a tribal youth from Sidhi district of the state has surfaced. There is no place for such a heinous act with the youth of the tribal community in civilised society,”

He added, “This incident has put entire Madhya Pradesh to shame….strictest punishment should be given to the guilty person and atrocities on tribals in Madhya Pradesh should be stopped.”

BJP denies link with Pravesh Shukla

As it is now turned into a political issue, several pictures of the accused with BJP MLA from Sidhi Kedarnath Shukla and BJP MLA from Rewa, Rajendra Shukla, have surfaced all over the internet. However, the party has denied any link or association with him.

Speaking on this, Kedarnath Shukla said, “I know him because he is from my constituency, but he is not my representative or a BJP worker.”
