A car accident took place in the early hours of Wednesday, October 4, that killed at least eight people and injured one minor in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (UP). The incident took place place around 7 in the morning under the Phupur Police Station area when a speeding truck collided with a truck, as per media reports.

The only survivor of this fatal accident is a 3-year-old child, sources informed. Moreover, the child has been admitted to the district hospital.

Yogi Adityanath on Varanasi accident

The Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured.

A release from the chief minister’s office said CM Yogi instructed the district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them with proper treatment. “He (the CM) also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the release read.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and all the bodies were taken to the hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
