A snake charmer who was arrested in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man in Uttarakhand has revealed to the police that the murder was planned by the deceaseds girlfriend by watching the popular television series Crime Patrol.The body of businessman Ankit Chauhan was found inside his car on July 15 in the Haldwani city in Nainital district.Chauhan, a resident of the Rambagh Colony on Rampur Road, was found dead in the backseat of his car near Teenpani railway crossing. After placing his number under surveillance, he was arrested on Monday,” the Nainital SSP said.During interrogation, the snake charmer told the police that the murder was planned by Mahi Arya with the help of her current boyfriend Deep Kandpal, her maid Usha Devi, and her maids husband Ramavtar. According to the police, the four accused have reportedly fled to Nepal.The accused snake charmer further revealed that Ankit Chauhan used to drink a lot and abuse Arya, who was tired of the constant interference in her life and took the extreme step.The murder was planned by watching episodes of Crime Patrol for two months. “While spilling the beans, the arrested snake charmer told police that Arya used to watch different episodes of Crime Patrol to learn how to carry out the murder as Chauhan was allegedly interfering in her life. She also used to watch shows on the internet on how to hide evidence and escape after committing the crime without leaving a trace,” a police officer involved in the interrogation told the Times of India.“She had also shut down the two CCTV cameras installed at her home, 20 days before the murder as per a well-planned move,” the officer added, before saying that Arya had “fled with the DVR of the CCTV camera installed at her house.”Regarding the four accused who have fled the police, SSP Bhatt said, “We are also trying to track their location to nab them as soon as possible.”
